FEMS

The Federation of European Microbiological Societies is one of the main sponsors of YLC 2022. Together, we have organized a number of activities around YLC 2022. A Webinar on Yeast Lipids and FEMS Yeast Research Virtual Special Issue were organized in June 2021. Currently, a call for papers is open to contribute to a FEMS Yeast Research Thematic Issue that will be released in 2022.

Webinar on Yeast Lipids

Yeast Lipid Conference and FEMS Yeast Research co-organized a webinar on Yeast Lipids on 3 June 2021.

Virtual Special Issue

A Virtual Special Issue of FEMS Yeast Research accompanies the webinar, gathering 19 recent research papers that illustrate the breadth of both fundamental and biotechnology-orientated research going on in the community.

Thematic Issue

This Thematic Issue of FEMS Yeast Research on Yeast Lipids - fundamental biology and biotechnological applications recognises the central role that lipids play in yeast metabolism, physiology and biology and will be published to coincide with YLC 2022.

The thematic issue covers all yeast species and research of a fundamental or applied nature. It will feature a small number of invited review articles as well as original research papers.

Relevant topics include but are not limited to:

  • metabolism of phospholipids and sterols
  • protein-membrane interactions
  • yeasts as a platform for lipid production

Any papers in relevant topics submitted to the journal are eligible for inclusion in the issue which comes with several benefits:

  • Immediately online publication following standard peer-review
  • Open access or free to publish models
  • Free to read for 3 months after launch
  • Promotion by FEMS and OUP, leading to increased readership

Authors should indicate in the cover letter and submission portal that they wish the article to be considered for inclusion in this special issue.

The call is for original research papers but review articles or perspectives may be considered – the Editor in Chief should be contacted in advance with an outline of such articles.

As well as fitting the theme of yeast metabolism, all articles must be within the overall scope of the journal and will be peer-reviewed in the normal way.

The deadline for submission is December 31st 2021.
